The Munchies’ Breakfast Club is continuing to be a success. This club was started by a Wider Key Skills Year 11 group and has now grown and is feeding students and giving them a healthy start to their day. This is further helping students to have a positive frame of mind for the day ahead. A large thank you is given to Mrs Mawman who is helping to run the club every morning with students.

This week it has been confirmed that the Wider Skills Coursework for 17, Year 11 students, has been accredited at Level 2 Grade B for the whole or for part of the 2¼ GCSE’s that it represents. This is a qualification that gives students the opportunity to develop enterprise skills and PLTS. This, for most students, represents a qualification that they have been studying for outside their normal GCSE timetable.
A second external moderation of WKS work will take place on 7th July 2009 when it is hoped that more students, including our Year 10 WKS cohort, will achieve a GCSE Level 2 Grade B.

Well done to those Yr 9 students who have just taken the FCSE in French. The vast majority showed commitment and a ‘can do’ attitude during these exams. This is a recognised qualification that counts as half a GCSE. Mrs Mudd was very impressed with their decision making skills during these tough exams. Raincliffe’s Yr 9 students are the only students to have taken part in this exam in the Scarborough area. Well done to all those taking part!

17 November 2008
Students from Sky Class have been working very hard in starting up their own company called ‘Sky High Hats’. The group of students are producing and selling their own winter hats on reception. The price of these hats is a very reasonable £3.50, so get yourself down and buy one! The most pleasing aspect of this activity is that students have used their own creativity to come up with this idea and have shown a ‘Can do’ attitude to get their business of the ground. Please do give them a big ‘well done’ if you end up passing by the area.
